Ο ζωγράφος και σκηνογράφος Γιάννης Τσαρούχης (1910-1989) θεωρείται ένας από τους μεγαλύτερους σύγχρονους Έλληνες ζωγράφους με διεθνή προβολή και ιδιαίτερα στη Γαλλία.Στο έργο του εκφράζεται η χαρά και το θαύμα της ζωής, μέσα από την προσπάθεια να ισορροπήσει τις μεγάλες παραδόσεις και να συλλάβει τις αιώνιες καλλιτεχνικές αξίες. Οι πίνακές του περικλείουν αφομοιωμένα πολλά λαϊκά και λαογραφικά στοιχεία.
Η γυναίκα από την Αταλάντη, με την παραδοσιακή της φορεσιά αποτελεί ένα από τα θέματά του που συναντούμε συχνά σε πίνακές του της δεκαετίας του 1950-60, αποδεικνύοντας ακόμη μια φορά πώς ο λαϊκός πολιτισμός μπορεί να αποτελέσει πηγή έμπνευσης για τους καλλιτέχνες.
The painter and stage designer Yannis Tsarouchis (1910-1989) is considered one of the greatest contemporary Greek artists with international reputation , particularly at France.In his works, he expresses the joy and the wonder of life, through the effort to balance the great traditions and capture the eternal artistic values. His paintings include assimilated many popular and folkloric elements.
The woman from Atalanta, with her traditional costume is one of the themes frequently encountered in his paintings of the 1950s-60s, even proving once again how the greek folk culture can be a source of inspiration for artists.
